Sourced from ancient low-yielding vines and lovingly nurtured on our family estate, this wine is characterised by its intensely concentrated fruit and is a true expression of both the style and the Barossa.
VARIETAL: | Shiraz | ||||||
REGION: | Barossa Valley, South Australia
COLOUR: | Deep ruby with a light violet hue.
NOSE: | This wine gently announces itself with complex layers of dark fruit and spice. The perfume is reminiscent of a fine plum brandy, with flashes of cherry stone, potpourri and nutmeg.
PALATE: | Dark fruits continue through the palate with a persistence and juiciness that only vines of this age can give you. This is complimented by a gentle satsuma plum tartness that gives the wine backbone and freshness. Savoury notes of toasted anise and dark chocolate drive the palate. This finish is finely structured, with layers of gentle tannins. |
||||||
MATURATION: | 18 months in 30% new French oak. Six months in bottle prior to release.
STYLE: | This is a wine that will give a lot of pleasure with medium-term cellaring. Four to eight years would be perfect. Early drinking would be enhanced with a gentle decant and a little time to open up and shine. |
